We've got you covered so you can do life.

Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona (BCBSAZ) is here to make sure you have the services and support you need to protect your health—during the COVID-19 outbreak and beyond.

We know things are challenging at the moment and that you have plenty to think about. The good news, though, is you can check healthcare coverage off your worry list!

You may have even seen us on TV talking about how we continue to work hard here at BCBSAZ doing what we do so you can do life. That includes making it easier and more affordable for you to get the care you need.

COVID-19 Testing—$0 cost share

BCBSAZ is waiving your copay or coinsurance for COVID-19 diagnostic testing. Testing must be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); ordered by a physician (MD/DO), nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, or pharmacist; and performed according to guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

You also won’t have a copay or coinsurance for any doctor, clinic, or emergency room visit associated with a COVID-19 test. This $0 out-of-pocket applies even if your plan has a deductible and you haven’t yet paid the full deductible amount.

COVID-19 Treatment—$0 cost share

BCBSAZ continues to waive all copays, coinsurance, and other cost-sharing related to COVID-19 treatment received at in-network facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

This means you will pay $0 out of pocket should you or a family member covered under your BCBSAZ plan need treatment for COVID-19.

Tip! Some employer groups may have chosen different benefits. If you have coverage through your employer, we suggest checking with your HR department about costs related to any COVID-19 treatment.

Antibody Testing—$0 cost share, one test per member

All BCBSAZ members have coverage for one antibody test. The test has to be:

  • FDA approved or given emergency use approval (EUA) from the FDA;

  • Ordered by a physician (MD/DO), nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or pharmacist; and

  • Conducted at a qualified lab. At-home tests are not covered.
We are waiving all cost sharing for antibody tests that meet these guidelines. That means you’ll pay $0 out of pocket.

Prescription Refills

  • You can have an early refill of 30-day prescriptions you take through June 10. In most cases, the early refills apply to prescriptions you take for a longterm or chronic condition.

  • You can receive a 90-day supply of a medication if your plan offers mailorder pharmacy benefits, and you sign up for this service. Many of our plans also cover 90-day supplies purchased at retail pharmacies. You can check your plan benefits online at azblue.com/MyBlue.

Nurse Advice and Online Doctor Visits

When you have questions or concerns about COVID-19 or another illness, we have resources for you:

  • Nurse On Call service
Call 1-866-422-2729 any time of the day or night to speak with a registered nurse. There is no cost to use Nurse On Call.

  • Telemedicine visits
A telemedicine visit is a virtual doctor’s visit that happens using your computer, tablet, or mobile device. When we say “telemedicine,” we are talking about telemedicine, telehealth, and tele-dentistry. Through July 31, 2020, you’ll pay $0 out of pocket for telemedicine visits at in-network providers.

    • First, check with your regular primary care provider (PCP) or any other in-network BCBSAZ provider to see if you can schedule a telemedicine visit. Most doctor offices are now offering telemedicine— even if they didn’t before—so it’s a good idea to call and check. It’s always best to see a doctor you know and trust, and who knows your health history.

    • If your PCP isn’t available or doesn’t offer telemedicine visits, you have another option: BlueCare AnywhereSM. This service connects BCBSAZ members to board-certified doctors by live video. BlueCare Anywhere doctors can evaluate your risk for COVID-19 and other respiratory conditions, advise on next steps, and refer you to inperson care, if needed. Get started at BlueCareAnywhereAZ.com, or download the BlueCare Anywhere telehealth app.
